Ah yes, it’s that time again. The year has drawn to a close and it begs for some reflection before we walk much farther into 2018. {You can find my reviews from past years here}
Let’s get started with some tidbits about the year!
Age: 36
Most notable literature by my bed:

- God and Jetfire by Amy Seek
- No-Drama Discipline by Daniel J. Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson
- Issues of Taproot magazine
Songs I’ve had on repeat:
- Riverside by Agnes Obel
- My Silver Lining by First Aid Kit
- Our Souls Cry by Seeker & Servant
- Find My Joy by Ryan Delmore
Best new oils I discovered:
- Palo Santo essential oil
- Jade Lemon essential oil
- Palmarosa essential oil
Most played card/board game:
- Sleeping Queens
- Sushi Go
- Cardline: Dinosaurs
Great memories:
- camping with friends at Gull Lake over the summer
- our trip to Disneyland last spring
- watching Sam play with his friends after school
Most satisfying experiences:
- Growing, weeding, & harvesting flowers on the farm and turning them into beautiful bouquets
- Listening to coyotes welcome the dusk each night of the summer
- Watching the ever-dramatic sky on the farm
- Completing our home-study and photo book for the adoption process
Frustrating experiences:
- Feeling isolated on the farm, with an equally frustrated little boy
- The struggle to figure out summer accommodations on the farm {we settled with a trailer, filling & dumping at a local campground and showering at the campground washrooms}
- Working so hard to plant and weed our market garden, only to have so many crops fail due to drought & wind
Glad I:
- Volunteered for the YYC Growers 150 Faces Project
- Started getting help with the production of my Love Catchers & Dreamcatchers
- Have continued weightlifting at the gym, even if the number of weekly workouts varies a bit
- Get to walk Sam to & from school each day {some valuable time to reconnect}
Most thankful for:
The way God continues to prompt us, challenge us, make us laugh & cry, and answer prayers. Blessed to share all of it with you, our family & friends, community, & customers.
So long 2017, and welcome a new year.
