Mom Life Organized - Helpful Apps, Calendars, and Planners for Busy Moms

January is the perfect time to examine how you organize your days, weeks, and months! Not only what you do, but the actual tools for helping achieve that organization. Today, Shauna and I are sharing some of our favourite tools to use, from printables and calendars to helpful apps. From two real moms in the thick of daily life, here are ways we get & stay organized {and also, achieve some inspiration & sanity}:

Printables

  • 2018 Download Bundle from All Good Things Collective ~ Sarah: “My first year using this one, it includes a monthly calendar, weekly calendar, to-do list, screensavers for your phone, scripture verses to memorize, and artwork prints for each month. Purchase the bundle, and get a download link for the whole thing, then print off as you go.”

Putting Pen to Paper

I (Shauna) am a bit old fashioned in my planning. I prefer a beautiful day-timer and cute notepads to anything my phone has to offer…

  • Riffle Paper makes beautiful planners (along with everything else stationary based) and I was lucky enough to be gifted their 2018 planner for Christmas this year
  • Chapters/Indigo has a wonderful selection of day-timers, notepads and stationary as well. I love spending some quiet moments just browsing – either in store or online.
  • Dollarama actually has some really good day-timer and notepad options as well…and for really great prices. I used their day-timer for the past couple years.
  • Frankie Magazine (an Australian based company) makes a very beautiful diary. A splurge, definitely, but very fun.

Helpful Apps and Online Tools

  • To-Doist ~ For all my list making {from home, to handmade business, to self-care}, with the ability to share tasks with hubby who also has the app.
  • Cozi Family Organizer ~ With calendar, plus meal planner, and grocery list maker & more {mainly hubby & I started using it because it was the best solution for a shared calendar on our different mobile platforms, iPhone & Android}
  • Superstore Click and Collect ~ Seriously team. If you haven’t tried online grocery shopping, it’s time you gave it a try. It’s an absolute game changer! You simple log in, search for your grocery list items, add them to your cart, choose a pick up time (the majority of which are $3), and you’re set. Picking up groceries is also very smooth. You park in the designated spot, give them a call and they bring your groceries to your car. I’ve had only good experiences with Click and Collect (Superstore). It saves time and money as you can easily track your cart balance as you do your shopping; leaving far fewer opportunities for impulse purchases and more time for another couple errands before school pick up.

  • Period Tracker ~ So admittedly I (Sarah) no longer need this app since my hysterectomy, but it was my go-to for tracking my cycle, hormones, & symptoms.
  • Flo ~ Another period, ovulation, symptom tracking option. This one pairs well with an Apple watch as well.
  • Google Drive ~ I dived into using this app a ton during a project for YYC Growers that lasted five months & required wrangling work by multiple team members. Now we use it for our own farm projects. Great for sharing documents & photos. It all gets stored in one spot for everyone to access. For a domestic application, consider this if you’re facing home renos this year, or planning a big family event {download Google Sheets & Docs to accompany it}

  • Paperless Post ~ my preference for event invites {like birthday parties} just because it is a little more funky & fun that Evite.
  • City of Calgary Garbage Day ~ With the new compost bins causing some changes in scheduling and 3 bins to coordinate, a few garbage pick ups have been missed. This free service sends notifications prior to your scheduled pick up day.
  • Pinterest ~ duh. Even if you don’t want to spend a ton of time scrolling through the feed, you can’t deny that Pinterest is still the place to collect all your awesome inspo, projects, ideas, needs, & wants!

Good luck & happy planning!
