Fun in the sun

Christine of Purple Pony Art

We had some amazing weather this weekend in Calgary! Just perfect for the numerous events going on around town, especially for the appropriately named Inglewood Sunfest on Saturday. It’s a street festival down in community of Inglewood that features all sorts of wacky entertainment and lots of local businesses, plus a handmade market. My friend and fellow crafter, Christine of Purple Pony Art, was one of the vendors at the festival and I went down and hung out with her & her mom for a few hours.

That hot sun definitely encouraged a lot of folks to wander down to the festival. The street was packed! The trick for vendors was trying not to get sunburned and staying hydrated. There wasn’t room in the handmade market for vendors to have tents, which was a shame. Seems like vendors would have been happy to share tent spaces with two or three other crafters, if they’d been allowed to set them up. Any-who… that’s just my two-cents and something for the organizers to figure out for future years. This was my first time at the festival and it was fun. Great people-watching! Since I didn’t get my fill of people-watching at Stampede this year, I made up for it on Saturday. Plus, it was great to see another fellow crafter “at work”. You learn so much from each other, so I’m really thankful Christine let me hang out with her! Made me miss working at Veer with all the gals (which is where I first met Christine). We just don’t get to see each other enough.

Speaking of seeing each other, Kalen of Minibytes popped by to say “hi” and Michelle of Isabelle and Sophie (another fellow Etsy teammate) was actually the vendor right next to Christine. Etsy folks everywhere! I love it!

You can see more of Christine’s lovely work and get to know her a bit more through these various sites:

And for all you crafters out there, Christine maintains a great calendar of craft shows & events for the Calgary area. A super-duper resource, that you’ll want to bookmark!

Thanks for an awesome day, Christine!

    1. Ya, I’m glad the pics were okay. It was so darn bright out, it was hard to tell. So looking forward to sharing space together at the Fort Calgary craft sale in November!! We won’t have to worry about sunburns at that one 😉
