Time for another installment of our Friday Fun Facts series and I’m super excited to include hubby, Marcus! He will be joining the blog crew over the coming months to share about our very first chicken flock {YES, chickens} and some other helpful farming/homesteading/growing posts. But most importantly, we welcome him to bring a “dad’s perspective” to this whole parenting thing! First, let’s get to know him a little bit more…
A new little series on the blog, Friday Fun Facts is just what it sounds like! Sharing some random tidbits about each of the blog contributors, so you can get to know us more. I’m starting us off this week by talking about my early years…
Oh Christmas time, how I love thee. The sights, sounds & smells give me all the good feels. And of course, story time in our house shifts over to holiday books! We snuggle in and read childhood favourites, with worn & soft pages, and dive in to the crisp pages of new stories. Come, pull up a seat, and take a peek at some of our Christmas picks.
Are you ready for another addition of “Reading Time: Our Fave… Books”? Of course, what could be more appropriate right now than our fave Halloween books?! We do so love Halloween in our house! These books get read throughout the year, but we’ll make it special by reading some of them by the spooky glow of our Halloween lights & haunted village decorations. Join along, if you dare.
Our summer farm days inspired me to put together our list of favourite farm books. We’ve got several {maybe not as many as cat or dino books}. Some of Sam’s earliest books were farm themed, actually. Seems pretty fitting for our part-time farm kiddo.
Time for some more good reads for kiddos! Cat books? Of course cat books!! Sam has had a fondness for cat books since he was a babe. Anything cat, anything dino. He’s totally our kid! Anywhooo, when I went to write this post, I realized just how many cat books we have. I pulled the ones out we read the most or were obsessed with in days past.
We have quite the book worm in our house, and honestly, reading is pretty important to hubby & I too. We started reading to Sam as a baby, in the toddler years we could pass hours just reading stories to him, and reading time is built into our day-to-day routine even now. We’ve definitely got a lot of favourites! Some are pretty common, others might not be, so that’s why I thought I would start to share some of our good reads.
It’s kind of incredible how much of a “scent” person I have become. In some ways, I always have been. I’ve collected many scent memories from my childhood {my Grandma Rosie’s perfume, my mother’s hand cream, the Avon moisturizer we put on after sunburns each summer} and whenever I went on a big trip across the world, I purchased a new perfume to wear {just so that I would build a scent association}. Scents have the power to transport us back in time, make the here & now melt away, even if just for a few seconds.
