Fourth Blogoversary!

FOUR YEARS! Yep, this little blog of mine has been going for four years now. A short time, really, in the blogosphere, but still feels like quite the accomplishment. Posts have been few and far between this summer, sadly. I have an inkling that might happen again in coming years. Winter months, though long here in Alberta, make for great writing & blogging. Summer months, not so much. The growing season is far too short to spend in front of the computer. That doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten you! This blog and its readers are very much on my mind as I go through each day and I’ve stored up some good content for posts to keep us entertained in the winter.

Until then, I think a Fourth Blogoversary calls for some celebration! This post marks 477 blog posts in that four year period. I’m crawling my way up to 500 posts (another milestone that will call for a bit of celebration later in the year)! And a BIG THANKS to all the wonderful folks you take the time, not only to read the blog, but to leave a comment! You guys rock and it makes my day every time I see a new comment come through!

So, let’s see, the best way to celebrate… with a GIVEAWAY, of course!! It might only be September 1st, but there’s already a crispness to the morning air. I’d love to help keep you cozy this autumn, so I’m giving away one of my crochet cowl scarves. All you have to do, is leave a comment on this post, and your name will be entered into the draw. Giveaway will close on Friday, Sept. 5th at midnight MST. Winner will be announced Saturday morning. Comments closed.

AND how about a sale in the Etsy shop, just to show my great appreciation of all your support! I rarely have sales in my shop, so you’ll want to take advantage of this one. All items 15% off!!! Whoot! Sale ends Friday, Sept. 5th at midnight MST.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU for all the love and support over the past four years! Made the journey worth it! Hope to be around on the blog more once we get through the craziness of September (canning season, you know) and go on our Disney Cruise (over-the-moon excited about that). Until then, take care and good luck to all the giveaway participants!

(and before anyone asks, I did not make that lovely cupcake in the top photo… I turned to my good ol’ friends at Veer for a stock image)

Third Blogoversary!

Back in September of 2010, I began writing on this blog. The first post (actually the first three) was health-related, documenting my journey & struggle with uterine fibroids and surgery that resulted. It was, in fact, during my seven weeks off of work to recover from surgery, that the desire to start Bubblegum Sass took root. Not just Bubblegum Sass, the blog, but the business. There is something about being forced to slow down, almost to a full stop, that makes you examine, take stock, and re-envision things.

And so, the blog began. The business followed later. The adventure wrapping through three years of challenges, many milestones, an abundance of creativity, and a steady flow of buttons. There has been lots of inspiration enjoyed & shared, lessons learned, and mistakes made.

I’ve been ever so lucky to have you following along as I trot down this path of “sassy crafter”. It has always felt good to have this space to chat about projects, experiences, and daydreams. As life keeps evolving, so does this blog. I thank you, for reading each post & offering your encouraging words.

A third blogoversary seems like a good reason to have a GIVEAWAY! What’s up for grabs? A one-of-a-kind quilted striped purse AND a scrap silk brocade brooch AND a set of three button magnets, all made by little ‘ol me. I’ve also thrown in two balls of lovely Alpaca Boucle Luxury Indiecita yarn (alpaca/nylon blend) in perfect autumn colours. No time to make something new right? Well, then good thing I’ve also included a finished hand knit scarf made from Colinette Isis by my lovely mother-in-law Judy (remember all her yarn and her Jen By The Fjord yarn shop?). Lastly, what Bubblegum Sass giveaway would be complete without a little bag of buttons?! Pretty sweet bunch of items, if you ask me.

****CONTEST CLOSED****

Drum roll please… the winner is MELISSA!! Congrats Melissa! I know you’ll enjoy ALL these goodies. And thank you to everyone who took a moment to participate! You’ve given me some good colour suggestions for future product. Personally, I adore anything turquoise/aqua blue. I’m also a sucker for plum purple and pumpkin orange. Nothing says cozy autumn comfort more than those two colours together. Looking forward to keeping your preferences in mind as I keep sewing up cuff bracelets and collar necklaces! Thanks again!

First Blogoversary!

Felt cupcake with chalk candleYes, it truly has been one full year since I started writing on this here little blog of mine. It honestly has not been a hardship to keep up with it, but rather a joy to share all the small things and big things that have passed into my life, all the new discoveries and learning experiences, the many, many changes that every life undergoes, and all the wonderful people I’ve met along the way. A roller coaster at times, true. But can I just say how nice it’s been to share that roller coaster with others?

So how do you measure the success of a blog? Is it in the number of followers or unique visitors? Is it how frequently you post? It is based on how much it gets shared around through other social media and linked back to by other sites? I know that there are entire articles and books written on such things (I’ve read them in an attempt to learn the secret behind successful blogs). Personally I suppose it is a combination of many aspects, but the most important seems to be just in how much a blogger enjoys blogging. Simple right. Readers know when you aren’t being authentic. So I hope, that if I’ve achieved anything with this blog, it’s that I showed my true colours through each and every post. 365 days and 140 posts later… a small glimpse of this world through my eyes. Stick around for the continuing saga…

What better way to celebrate a blogoversary, than with a GIVEAWAY?!? My first, in fact. To be entered, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post indicating your favorite Bubblegum Sass product. Easy-peasy! Comments will closed on Monday, Sept. 5 by 8pm MST. A winner will be chosen and announced here next Tuesday. So what’s up for grabs? Your choice of one of my pretty little coin purselettes, perfect for holding bits & bobs in your purse or as a simple camera case or even as a gift card holder. The full selection of these little purselettes can be seen here.
