This Is Halloween!

This Is Halloween: Jack-O-Lantern Inspiration

We had the pleasure of carving pumpkins with friends this year. So much fun! Do you spot a Pikachu {or two} and a Pokeball? Fairly appropriate since we are going as a family of Pikachus. Looking forward to the cuteness. And of course, the candy haul that Sam will bring home.

Happy Halloween, all!

Happy Halloween!

Hope you have a very spooook-tacular Halloween! Thought I would share some pics of the Halloween festivities we’ve indulged in this year. It’s been a good one for us and love that we got to experience Halloween at Disney World with the “Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party” and also on our Disney Fantasy Cruise with “Halloween on the High Seas”. A very special year indeed!!

Happy Hallowishes! A magical Halloween, in a magical place.

Of course Magic Kingdom, especially Main Street U.S.A, is all decked for Halloween. Loved the cheerful light posts!

This is the Halloween Tree on the Disney Fantasy cruise. It develops through the course of the cruise. When you board, it's just the smiling tree. Later, jack-o-lanterns appear and towards the end of the cruise, the jack-o-lanterns light up. There's Halloween story-time around the tree on various nights.

Now that we're home, we get to celebrate *actual* Halloween, starting with pumpkin carving. This one was requested by our dino-crazed boy and lovingly carved by his daddy.

Button-spiration

Happy Halloween!! How appropriate that Button-spiration Wednesday falls on Halloween this year! I completed this project a couple of weeks ago. It was inspired by a pumpkin I saw on Pinterest (of course).

All you need is a fake pumpkin, buttons, hot glue gun, and some ribbon. I also added a little plastic skull ring on top of the bow. Originally I visualized using a white pumpkin and black buttons, but I waited too long and the craft store was sold out of them. Maybe I can score one next year and do a white pumpkin with purple buttons & the word “wicked”…

Anyway, the orange pumpkin worked just fine. Love the little button ghost eyes I added. It felt like it just needed a little something extra, and that was perfect. The whole thing didn’t take as long as I thought it might (even with Sam trying to eat buttons & unwind all the ribbon). My only regret was that I didn’t create a stencil for the letters, I just winged it. I think the sizing & typeface would have been a lot better if I had created a stencil on the computer (like I did for Sam’s embroidery hoop). Lesson learned for next time.

Can you tell that I’m already looking forward to Halloween? Can’t wait to decorate and start baking. I know, I know… it’s not even September yet, so I have a while to wait patiently. Until then, here are some Whimsically Wicked items from Etsy:
