Button-spiration: Sassy Things

Thought we’d do a little bit of a different Button-spiration this week. I usually end up sharing a tutorial or project of interest by a fellow blogger, but instead I’d like to offer a peek at some of the items I finished up for the Boutique Wedding Market. There’s plenty of button goodness in all of it, of course.

Button magnets (loving my new display for them... a metal waste basket turned upside down)

Folks were tickled with my "Love Catchers". I can't wait to get some more made up & listed in the Etsy shop. They may also be for sale soon at a local shop... pretty excited about that! First and foremost, though, I think my little Sammy could use one in his room (perhaps in turquoise & yellow or something).

A Whole Lot of Pretty

This weekend, I was surrounded by such an amazing group of creative peeps! Every corner of the Boutique Wedding Market was full of pretty details, vintage finds, unique styling ideas, and handmade goodness. It was very inspiring! All the vendors seemed to be like-minded, perfectly quirky, talented folks. It was definitely a pleasure to be included in such an awesome group! The potential in that little space was CRAZY! Can you tell I’m just a bit jazzed by the whole thing? Here’s a peek at the show:

Pretty details by Kismet & Clover (event styling & design)

Reclaimed wooden signs by City and the Sticks
High quality creative photography by Chris Amat & Mike Seehagel
Unique vintage finds and restyled decor by Orange Trunk Rentals
Unique photography with tons of personality by Diane + Mike Photography

Jaunty accessories from by.Ginni

Stationary and design by Modern Pulp Design Studio
Ethically sourced floral design by Willow & Whimsy
The fabulously entertaining Penetration Attempt performed BOTH days of the market. If I had an event requiring live music, I would book them!
The aftermath of a DIY floral crown workshop offered by Willow & Whimsy. Messy is beautiful.

I realized after getting home, that I didn’t quite get pictures for every vendor. My apologies to Veden Woman (hair, make-up, and nail styling), Lannie Rae (baking & pastry artist), Bloom Invites (stationary and design), and Laura George Desgins (custom bridal wear).

Such a great show! I look forward to doing it again!

Pretty in Progress

I’ve been spending the last several weeks preparing for the upcoming Boutique Wedding Market here in Calgary. I’ve designed a couple new products for the show, while the rest are slight design variations on my current products. I brought the colours of everything inline with the very popular shabby chic/rustic style wedding decor (dusty purples & pinks, peach, ivory & beige). It’s all a lot more soft than the punchy colours you see in my Etsy shop.

I had already played around quite a bit with the shabby chic style cuff bracelets last year. So I used the inspiration from those and sprinkled it into my button hair clips and the new bridal accessories. The result is a whole lot of pretty in vintage doilies, lace, silks, tulle, yo-yos, and buttons. There’s a lot of hand stitching going into all of this, evenings spent sewing yo-yos & lace flowers while we watch our latest addiction on Netflix. Right now, I’m moving on to putting together the hair clips, and finishing touches on the bridal accessories. In a few days, I’ll be diving into button magnets (all in wedding appropriate colours… don’t you think they would make cute wedding favors?). I’ve also got several display details still to finish up. I’m really tickled with the display I’ve got roughly worked out. It will be quite a change for Bubblegum Sass (I won’t be hiding behind a table for once), but I’m loving the idea!

So here’s a peek into the progress:
