Daily Dose: Creativity

Your Daily Reminder: Do Something Creative Today

This is your friendly reminder to do something creative today! I often overlook the things I do that are creative. Long ago, I became more conscious of fostering daily creativity, in various forms. Now, I need to become more intentional about seeing that creativity again. Also, love that bit about connecting with God during creative times.

Here’s some of the ways I incorporate creativity into daily life:

  • adult colouring books {of course!}
  • mixing up essential oils concoctions
  • crochet
  • hand stitching for the Etsy shop
  • product//blog//IG photoshoots
  • free play LEGO building
  • making “happy mail” postcards//packages for our friends
  • playing with//creating flower arrangements

So, what are YOU going to do today?

Advent: A Flood of Troubles Calmed

Advent Essentials: Keeping the holidays simple and creating focus

Truth be told, I started working on this post before Advent started. Before our life took a sudden turn. I thought I knew what our Advent season would look like. I had a devotional in hand, the notion of daily quiet time, Advent candles at the ready, simplified Christmas goals & acts of kindness planned… we would quietly and joyfully anticipate the arrival of Christmas Day. An “ideal” Advent. But life is far from ideal, a lesson we have learned over & over.

All we can do is trust. Be present. And trust.

Adoption Awareness Month: Our Own Story

November is National Adoption Awareness Month ~ Our Personal Adoption Journey

The little tiny seed of adoption was planted in our heads when we wanted to start our family, only to discover that I had complications that would make that difficult. Not necessarily impossible. But difficult. Hubby and I sat there facing the possibility that we might not be able to have children of our own. How did that feel? Could we accept that? What other options were we comfortable with?

Adoption.

That was the word that came out of that conversation.

World Adoption Day

National Adoption Day ~ Adoption is Love

TODAY is World Adoption Day! Part of the Adoption Awareness Month that runs each November. Last year, at this time, I didn’t know anything about it. I mean, I didn’t know about World Adoption Day or Month, and I certainly did not know much about adoption. Period.

Except that God was calling us to become adoptive parents.

Ever patient.

Sometimes quiet & gentle. Sometimes loud & clear.

God was calling us to this journey.

And He is right here with us, in it.

Farm Days: Storm Watching

Farm Days: Life in a Trailer ~ The story of starting a small farm in Alberta

It’s a very different “home sweet home” these days.

A 27′ trailer, our five-year old, my husband and myself, plus two cats. All born and raised in the city. Add in a small generator, some patio furniture, a catio, and a fire pit. Now a good heaping of sweat, dirt covered hands and feet, and laughter. A dash of faith, stewardship, and creation care.

It’s our recipe for the summer.

Good enough is perfect, everyday.

Adoption Journey

Adoption Journey ~ A different kind of motherhood ~ Blog by Bubblegum Sass

Adoption. A very powerful word. So many unknowns. So many scenarios.

Definitely walking entirely on faith through this. Not blind, but trying to get educated & full of love & acceptance. It’s going to push all my own boundaries and it’s going to take strength that I don’t have on my own. This I know.

Seeking Self-Care When It Really Matters

Seeking Self-Care When It Really Matters ~ Blog post by Bubblegum Sass

So, I just went through the most difficult time of my life. Really, I’m still journeying through it. The loss of my mom is a fresh, raw hurt that no one can actually heal. And yet, I’m still expected to get out of bed every day, make meals, take care of our son, do laundry and perform the whole “mom/wife/daughter/sister” bit. Oh yeah, and there’s that running-a-part-time-craft-business and assisting-my-husband-with-his-business role too.

What happens when I can’t?

Because to be honest with all of you, I can NOT do it ALL.
