In the Shop: Love Catcher Rainbow

In the Shop: Love Catcher Rainbow ~ From Bubblegum Sass ~ Available through Etsy.com ~Lace dreamcatchers for nursery decor

With my two spring markets done & hubby fully absorbed in work for the growing season, Sam & I have been thrown into a new schedule, new routines, and new chaos. It will all change again in a couple of weeks, when he finishes preschool. The family & work life balance is a constant struggle. You “win” at it some days, and other days, not so much.

Etsy Calgary: Made In Canada

Etsy Calgary: Made In Canada Pop-Up Market 2015

Only ONE more sleep until the big market!! I’ve been so busy making, making, making for it, that I’ve barely had time to pop on here. If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you might be getting sick of hearing & seeing all the stuff I’ve made for the show. I’ll be bringing along close to 100 small Love Catchers, 20 large Love Catchers, along with a selection of upcycled & shabby chic accessories.

There’s been a crazy amount of response to the show. We’re expecting anywhere from 5,000-10,000 folks in a single day!! You’re going to be running us off our feet! For the first 125 lucky folks through the door, there are some amazing swag bags with contributions from the vendors & sponsors (including copies of Uppercase Magazine). I provided 50 adorable button magnets.

The first 10 customers who make a purchase at my table, will receive a 10% coupon for future purchases! So come down to the show early. Also, check out the directions for taking public transit, since parking might be an issue with that many people. I’m lucky enough to have my sis-in-law waking before the sun to pick me up & drive me down to the show.

If you missed the news segment on CTV this morning discussing the show, you can catch it here. Such a great variety of vendors featured, and you might spot a Love Catcher by little ‘ol me!

Can’t wait to share some photos from the show with you! Hope it’s a huge success for all the vendors!

Treasury Love: January 2015

This weekend is the Etsy Alberta Street Team treasury blitz, which I was thankfully able to participate in. So many good treasuries being made so far by fellow teammates.

Looking forward to getting together with these crafty gals & guys next week for an Etsy Meet Up. You do not necessarily have to have an Etsy shop or be on our team to attend. We are meeting on Friday, Jan 23 at the Triwood Community Centre (the entrance is at ground level between the main hall and the hockey arena. Please look for an Etsy sign and a forest green awning over the door). Starts at 6:30pm and goes till 9:30pm. We ask for a $5 donation to go towards the cost of renting the room, but other than that, bring yourself, a treat and any de-stash items you want to find a home for. Good company & good conversation pretty much guaranteed.

Treasury Love: Hello Again

It has been AGES since I shared any treasuries on the blog. This is partly because I haven’t been making too many treasuries in the last few months, and partly because when I was making Etsy treasuries, I was so rushed to get them done, I barely had time to share them around. No promises on regularly sharing them on the blog, but for the time being, here are two lovely collections. You can also periodically check on Etsy to see the latest treasuries I’ve put together:

Go team, go!

Just thought I would take a few minutes to tell you about a few of my fellow Alberta Etsy teamies who will be at the Make It show in Edmonton. It’s less than a week away now!!! Eeek! Still trying to check things off the long list of to-dos, but first, let’s check out some of the good stuff you’ll find at Make It:

Amazing photo collection by Larry of J2 Studios Photography. He travels to some pretty interesting destinations each year and captures lots of awe inspiring landscapes. I really admire Larry’s ability to notice old building details. He’s a regular at the Make It shows, along with his wife Christina, but this will be the first year they will both be traveling to the Vancouver Make It show. Best of luck guys!

Larry’s wife Christina of J2 Studios Craft will also be at Make It, showcasing her collection of kanzashi flower hair clips, headbands, and more! She makes such super cute, good quality accessories. I’m sure you’ll find some great stocking stuffers at her booth!

Fellow teamie Deanna of Miss Mac Glass will also be in attendance with her beautiful blown & fuzed glass items. I’m hoping to pick up one of her newest designs, an olive oil decanter. Think it would look lovely in our kitchen, plus, I could use a better oil dispenser. Deanna always has items in a variety of price ranges too, to fit your Christmas gift budget. Love her belt buckles too!

I’m excited to see Jenny from Hop & Flop. Her card creations are simple, and adorable, with a modern edge. Looks like she has some new designs ready for the holiday season too! Jenny also makes wonderful knitted accessories, including fingerless gloves, boot cuffs, and bottle cozies.

There are a bunch of other crafty folks that will be at Make It who have been on the Alberta Etsy Team in the past, including Maple and Oak Designs, Mumble Tease, CoutuKitsch, Tweeling, AVW Photography, and others. You’ll just have to pop by the show and check all the great talent out! There’s still time to grab your discounted early bird tickets or your $1 off admission coupon! Can’t wait for next week!!

Good things

Sammy and I headed down to Market Collective this past weekend. It was their 5th anniversary!! A nice big milestone for the MC crew and the whole handmade community in Calgary! They have brought so much awareness & support to the handmade movement and local arts. I’ve been a vendor at a couple of the markets in the past and, although I don’t get out to shop at every MC event, I do try to attend a few times a year.

I was super pumped to check out this particular Market Collective for a number of reasons. Firstly, the new venue intrigued me. I’ve never been inside the Mewata Armoury, but it sounded like an ideal location (they’ve struggled with finding venues to hold the events). Secondly, a number of Etsy Alberat teamies were vendors, including a couple that I’ve been wanting to make purchases from. Thirdly, I needed to get out of the house, get inspired, and breathe in some creative air.

Market Collective July 2013 Finds

Needless to say, Sam and I had fun, found lots of good things, and chatted with friendly folks. So here’s the scoop on my score. And what a score it is! First off, I finally grabbed “Happy Camper” t-shirts by Camp Brand Goods for Sammy and I. Been wanting those for a while now. Also found some lovely olive oil soaps by Ameya Studio. Next up, a pretty turquoise necklace by Taryn Hailey. Hard to resist turquoise AND long necklaces!

Lip Balm and purse by Handmade Therapy

One of the fellow teamies I was excited to see was Hilda from Handmade Therapy. I was so happy to pick up some of Hilda’s lip balms (lime and pink grapefruit) which she makes from beeswax from her own bees, when available. I also caved and finally purchased one of her darling fold-over clutches. She has great pattern and colour sense!

Note cards by Branch & Olive

I was also excited to see some of these note cards by Branch & Olive! I’ve featured Jill’s lovely designs on a Four Fab Finds post previously, and I love them ALL! Great work, Jill! Happy to have these new additions to my stationary collection.
