Living with Essential Oils: Car Diffuser Tips ~ Young Living Oils

Oh yes, just when you thought you had added essential oils into all aspects of your life, you discover diffusers for your car! I started seeing these around more & more in the fall, and ordered a couple for Christmas gifts {and slipped one into my own stocking}. Even if you don’t have a diffuser in your home, these are a simple & fairly inexpensive way to incorporate essential oils into daily life.

Although I mostly prefer Young Living products for my oils, I decided to give the Saje Car Scenter a try. It plugs into the cigarette lighter instead of a USB port, which I found appealing for us. Our car USB ports are typically in use for cell phone charging and I didn’t want to have to keep plugging & unplugging things. Young Living sells a USB diffuser, but hard to get in stock. When I ordered the one from Saje, I went ahead and bought the diffuser refill pads, so we’re set for a while.

The particular one we purchased is really straightforward to use. Just place a few drops of oil onto the pad, slip the pad into the slot in the diffuser, and plug into your car. It diffuses using heat, so it takes a little bit of driving time before your start to notice the scent. There’s a little green light that comes on when it is running. I have found that the one in our car gets bumped easily and then doesn’t run because it isn’t completely plugged in. I’ve just made a habit to check for the green light, when I want it on.

When I first set it up, I put the oil on the pad inside the house and then carried it to the car to put into the diffuser on our way out one morning. NOT convenient at all. Especially when you’re doing your mom thing, carry an armful of stuff {why do we always have so much “stuff” we have to pack around?!} That’s when I realized, I needed to just keep some oils and the refill pads in the car. The solution was simple! My starter oils kit came with mini glass bottles perfect for stashing in the car. Of course, being an oils lovin’ mama, I decided to mix up some blends.

I’ve definitely enjoyed having the diffuser in the car, but I’ve considered trying out an ultrasonic version, similar to our large diffusers at home. The heated car diffuser doesn’t diffuse the scent too heavily, which can be nice sometimes if you’re mainly diffusing for the driver’s pleasure {and mental health}. I’d like to be able to purify the overall air in the car though, and it just doesn’t cut it for that. We purchased the same one for hubby to use in his farm truck, but those smells might need a more robust diffuser. It’s kinda fun knowing you can take your oils love along with your through the day. Next up, I need to add a few more essential oils jewelry to my accessory collection!

Happy Oiling, friends!
